Smoke detectors help save lives.

According to Cal Fire approximately two-thirds of home fire deaths occur in homes without working smoke detectors. Since most fatal fires occur at night, it’s essential that every home has working smoke detectors to provide an early warning.

Your smoke detector’s primary function is to notify you of any suspicious smoke inside your house. This includes everything from burnt cooking, improperly extinguished cigarettes, and electrical fires. Your smoke alarm will sound at the first sign of trouble warning you of a fire before the flames get out of control.

Install smoke detectors in every bedroom, in the hallways, and on each level of your home. Bonney electrical technicians can assist you in planning where the smoke detectors will benefit you and your family the most.

Be sure to test your smoke detectors every month and regularly replace the batteries every year.  It’s easy to test a smoke detector, just hold down the test button on the front of the alarm and if it beeps, it works. Replace smoke detectors when they are 8-10 years old including detectors that use 10-year batteries or are hard-wired.
